Our mission at JOURNEY THROUGH SPEECH is to help people from all backgrounds improve their communication skills and achieve their fullest potential, from birth to 18 years of age. We're looking forward to helping and supporting all our clients in their quest for a voice, whether it be through spoken language or the use of an AAC device.
A collaborative approach is used to develop client-centered speech-language therapy plans based on the client's unique needs, developmental level, personal interests and/or preferences. Communication is a collaborative effort at JTS, striving to empower clients and their families to take an active role in advocating for what they want and need from speech therapy.
Carrie has experience in providing a variety of speech-language services using a strengths-based approach to developmental differences by providing support that affirms the neurodivergent identity of the individual. She possesses the knowledge and training to handle a wide range of communication challenges.
Speech Sound Disorders, Apraxia of Speech, Receptive and Expressive Language Delays/Developmental Differences, Gestalt Language Processing and Sensory Support for communication goals.
Speech-Language Pathologist and Owner
Carrie is a licensed speech-language pathologist with a New York State License and Professional Certificate in Teaching Students with Language Disabilities. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence with The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Carrie received a Masters of Science in Communication Sciences & Disorders from New York University (NYU) and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Elmira College with a Bachelors of Science in Speech and Language Disabilities. Carrie has been providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to children and adolescents in a variety of settings (public schools, preschools, daycares, and homes) since 2019 . Carrie is clinically trained and listed on the NLA Trained Clinician Registry through Meaningful Speech supporting gestalt language processors in acquiring original, flexible, self-generated language. She is a Level 2 Inside Out Sensory Trained Clinician who provides neuro affirming support and services to promote communication. Carrie is passionate about helping others find their voice whether it is through spoken language or the use of an AAC device.
